Frequently asked questions
Can the text be removed afterwards?
No. The text is written into the pixels of the file you download, exactly as if you had painted it on: whoever opens the result has no layer to switch off. Your original photo is untouched, so if you want different wording you start again from it.
Can I write more than one line?
Yes, up to 12. Every line break in the field is a line over the photo, and the whole block is placed at the position you pick: with "bottom right" the three lines sit together in that corner rather than each one hugging the edge on its own.
Why can I not drag the text wherever I want?
Because the nine positions work with a keyboard and a drag does not. They are the same nine any editor offers — three at the top, three in the middle, three at the bottom — and they cover what a title, a caption or a credit needs. Free placement would add a control that only works with a mouse.
Can I use my own font?
No. There are three families: sans serif, serif and monospace. The text is drawn inside a browser Worker, which does not share the page fonts, so asking for a specific one would silently fall back to the default and the preview would show you something other than what you were about to download.
Is the size in pixels?
It is a percentage of the shorter side of the image, not a pixel count. That way the same 8% looks equally large on a phone snap and on a twelve-megapixel photo, and also when you turn the photo on its side: no need to redo the slider for every file in the batch.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The text is drawn inside your browser and the file never leaves your device. You can check it with the Network tab of your developer tools open, or by disconnecting the internet once the page has loaded: the tool keeps working exactly the same.
Can I put the same text on several photos?
Yes. Drop in as many as you like and the settings — text, typeface, size, colour and position — apply to all of them. The preview shows the first one; if the framing changes a lot between photos, check each result before you publish them.
Which output format should I pick?
JPG for a photo you are about to share; PNG if the image has transparent areas you want to keep, because JPG fills them with colour; WebP if you want the smallest file and whoever opens it uses a modern browser.
